The Grand Manhattan Cocktail
Ingredients
- 45 ml bourbon Knob Creek Bourbon Whiskey
- 8 ml Grand Marnier Orange Liqueur
- 8 ml sweet Vermouth Vya
- 30 ml orange juice fresh squeezed
Garnish
- 1 orange wheel caramelized
Instructions
Caramelize an Orange Wheel

Cut one orange wheel and toss it in granulated sugar to coat.

Place it on aluminum foil or another non-flammable surface.

Using a hand-held propane torch, lightly caramelize the sugar by passing the torch flame 1 to 2 inches over the surface of the orange.

Allow to cool, flip over, and repeat.
Prepare the cocktail

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.

Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Garnish with a caramelized orange wheel.

Serve and enjoy!

A french version of the Grand Manhattan is the following:
Ingredients for 1 cocktail:
40 ml Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège cognac
15 ml Sweet Vermouth
15 ml Grand Marnier
2 dashes angostura bitters
Garnish: 3 brandied cranberries
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir with ice until chilled. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass with fresh ice and garnish with 3 brandied cranberries on a skewer.
